Hi there!

When I get a question about sleep training from bleary-eyed parents, it's almost always followed up with a question about another of their "favorite" topics: crying.

Oh, the crying.

This week I'm passing on tips to help you identify the difference between regular crying and colic, and self-soothe your way through this tough baby phase.

Plus, I've got the 411 on baby sensors, a primer to help you conquer the Common Core with your school-aged kiddos, an out-of-the box (and up on your wall) way to boost your little one's confidence, and a fun way to get your kids crafting this summer!

And away we go...

1. CRYING VS. COLIC

The crying....oh the crying.

A crying baby can frustrate the most seasoned parents (including your friendly neighborhood certified baby sleep specialist!), and reduce us to our own I'll-do-anything-to-make-this stop pile of tears.

Many people throw the word "colic" around when it comes to fussy babies, but it's a lot less common than you think.

In my new post I break down the difference between crying and colic, and share some dietary tricks to help ease the suffering.

And if you're looking for some one-on-one advice, or just a shoulder to cry on, go here to schedule a FREE 15-minute call with me and we can chat about it!

Or, just reply to this email with any questions you have, and I'll be happy to answer.

2. MAYBE YOU DON'T NEED TO HAVE THAT MUST-HAVE BABY GADGET?

Raise your hand if you've purchased a fancy new baby gadget because you read somewhere you couldn't live without it, or Googled something and scared yourself into buying it.

This super-relatable New York Magazine article chronicles one dad's similar journey, and points out more information does not (always) equal peace of mind.

3. JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE DONE WITH MATH...

These days kiddos come home from school eager (ok, maybe not eager) to start their math homework and parents have NO IDEA how to help them because  math has turned into a foreign language in the new Common Core world.

You're not alone, but fear not!

This guide to conquering the Common Core can help.

4. HOW TO BOOST YOUR LITTLE ONE'S SELF ESTEEM

Have a little one that could use a big self esteem boost? I love this article on a unique way to get your kiddo to stand tall. Say cheese!

5. A CRAFTY WAY TO SPEND YOUR SUMMER

With summer just around the corner you may be looking for ways to keep your kiddos active that doesn't involve the word iPad.

Kiwi Co. is a super fun science and art project subscription service for kids of all ages.

My kids loved getting these boxes delivered to our door once a month - they made everything from felt pillows, to a pinball machine, to a kaleidoscope. It's a perfect sharable activity to curb those inevitable summer blues!

That wraps up this issue!

Hope you enjoyed it and I'd LOVE if you shared it with your friends on social media or spread the word on the local Mommy gossip circuit - thanks!
