Eco-Friendly Baby (Sleep) Brands

Earth Day is the perfect time to evaluate the baby products you’re giving your littles. There are so many brands that offer eco-friendly baby products made with sustainability in mind. Choosing earth-friendly and green products isn’t just trendy, it helps contribute to a healthier planet for our little ones to grow up on.

Here are 10 eco-friendly baby brands that are committed to helping our Earth and giving back.

Pretty Please Teethers

Pretty Please Teethers started with a simple mission: to find safe, stylish, natural handmade items for little ones. From eco-friendly silicone teethers to our organic teething lovies, every item is made of high quality, non-toxic, and eco-conscious materials—that are all  BPA, PVC, Latex, Phthalate, and lead-free, and 100% US FDA and CPSC compliant. Plus, Pretty Please Teethers is a Black woman-owned business and 95% of their products are made in Utah!

Snuggle Me Organic

Every Snuggle Me swaddle and lounger is made from Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)-certified organic cotton (and hypoallergenic polyester fiberfill in the loungers). The swaddles are oversized, soft, and perfect for nap and nighttime sleep. When using the lounger… remember your safe sleep practices please! Loungers and positioners are not meant for sleep. A firm, flat mattress with a fitted sheet is what’s recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics to prevent the risk of SIDS. ;)

Burt’s Bees Baby

Burt’s Bees Baby has been committed to sustainability for more than a decade. They launched their organic baby cotton clothing line in 2012, but I’m sure you’ve used their chapsticks, skincare products, and baby products long before then. Their baby clothing isn’t just organic, many of the pieces are made with recycled thread and buttons too. The brand also works with factories that recycle their water supplies and uses solar panels and wind turbines to generate their own energy. All that means they’re able to save water, reduce their carbon emissions, and keep plastic out of landfills.

Little Blue Nest

Little Blue Nest is an independent family-run baby brand from the UK that sources the finest, purest organic threads for its bed linen, swaddles, bibs, and blankets. And the products aren’t only eco-friendly, they’re also really adorable! Little Blue Next collaborates with artists to make beautiful, hand-illustrated patterns you won't find anywhere else.

Darlyng & Co.

If you want a brand that you can’t count on from birth to kiddo – you’re going to love Darlyng & Co. From swaddles and skincare to nursery decor and toys, everything is sourced from high-quality, eco-friendly materials!

Stina & Mae

Super soft organic baby bibs, snuggle blankets, and even nursing pads, everything is made with organic cotton. On top of that, Stina & Mae donates 2% of revenue every year to organizations that help fight childhood hunger and bring awareness to maternal help. So you can shop Earth-consciously, while knowing you’re helping give back to others too.

Copper Pearl

Founded by two moms, Copper Pearl is another brand using organic cotton in its products – and all designs are screen printed with nontoxic, water-based inks. From start to finish each piece is produced by employees making a livable wage, in safe and comfortable working conditions. The brand requires all suppliers to comply with all fair labor standard laws. So, again, you can shop with a clear conscience that you’re helping the Earth and its people.

Dyper

Did you know a newborn will go through more than 2,000 diapers in their first year! (Of course you know! I will tell you, changing diapers is not something I miss!) All those diapers end up as mountains in landfills – unless you’re using reusable cloth diapers, and in that case, kudos to you! Dyper has figured out the science to make all those diapers a little more eco-friendly. They’re made with viscose fibers from responsibly sourced Bamboo; are free of chlorine, latex, alcohol, lotions, TBT, and Phthalates; and are unprinted, unscented, and extremely absorbent. Dyper even has a compost program and purchases carbon offsets on behalf of subscribers to help reforestation efforts. This brand truly takes eco-friendly to the next level!

Sophie la Girafe

Now, this teether toy is iconic – I wouldn’t be surprised if you were gifted a Sophie la Girafe at your baby shower (I had three!) – so I’m sure you’re glad to know it’s also eco-friendly! The brand uses natural latex rubber, collected from hevea trees, in its products and everything complies with European and global legislated standards. They even take it one step further, in terms of the quality that goes into the 100% natural rubber: each Sophie la Girafe has its lot number printed on the back of a leg, so you can trace it back to its production date and batch, which adds an extra layer of safety and accountability.

Happy Family Organics

Happy Family Organics snacks and food are made from simple ingredients from earth-friendly organic farms, meaning there’s no use of toxic pesticides or GMOs. They work with trusted farmers and suppliers and have committed to make 100% of their packaging from reusable, recyclable, or compostable material by 2025. And in 2018, Happy Family launched ‘Project Greenhouse,’ an education program that teaches farmers regenerative farming practices, which helps conserve water and fight climate change!

When it comes to living life a little greener, it doesn’t get any easier than making a few swaps to more eco-conscious brands. It also sets a good example for our littles as they grow up. I’d love to hear about earth-friendly brands you love and how you’re teaching your littles to take care of the environment! Find me on Instagram – @healthylittlesleepers – and share with me!
